House is a broad church, but the underground flavour on Droploud skews shuffled, soulful, and slow-burning. What counts as "house music"?
At its foundation: a four-to-the-floor kick on every beat, a clap or snare on two and four, a bassline built around the kick, and enough harmonic content to set a mood. From there it splinters into subgenres by tempo, bassline style, vocals, and mood. Deep house runs slower and jazzier, tech house harder and more minimal, afro house adds African percussion. The rhythmic template is the common thread, not any one sound.
What's the difference between house and techno?
House came out of Chicago's Black club culture and carries soul and gospel in it: warmth, vocal samples, chords with real harmonic interest. Techno comes from Detroit and runs harder, more industrial, less emotionally direct. House tends to sit around 125 BPM while techno usually runs 130–140. They overlap enough that Tech House exists as a bridge, but a deep house track and a raw techno track feel nothing alike.
